BECOMING A VOLUNTEER...

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at West Newton Elementary.  If you would like to volunteer at our school, Steps 1 and 2 (below) must be completed every year. Additionally, clearances must be updated every three years.  This includes the PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and the Federal FBI Fingerprinting Clearance.  To apply for your clearances, refer to steps 3, 4, and 5 below.

 

STEP 1: Yough School District Volunteers & School Helpers Application

This application must be completed each year that you wish to volunteer in the Yough School District. Complete the application and submit it to the School Office, along with a copy of your Photo ID.  Click on  Volunteer Letter & Clearance Form.

 

STEP 2: West Newton  Elementary PTO Membership Application

This application must be completed each year that you wish to volunteer with the West Newton PTO. Complete the application and submit it to the West Newton PTO. Please include your annual membership dues when submitting the application.  Click on  PTO Membership Form.

 

STEP 3: PA State Police Criminal Record Check

Complete the online form and submit. Usually, applicants will be charged a $10 fee for processing. However the fee has been waived by the governor.   Once you receive your response, please forward a copy to the School Office.  Click Here to access the PA State Police Criminal Record Check page.  Must be renewed every THREE years.

 

STEP 4: PA Child Abuse History Clearance

Complete the online form (CY113).  Click Here to access the form. Typically, applicants will be charged a $10 fee for processing, however the fee has been waived by the governor. You must include a copy of your Pennsylvania Request for Criminal Record (Step 3) when submitting this clearance request. Once you receive your response, please forward a copy to the School Office.  Must be renewed every THREE years.

 

STEP 5: FBI Fingerprinting (Department of Education)

Register with fingerprinting agency, COGENT, prior to fingerprinting - registration can be completed online or over the phone. Applicants will be charged a $28.75 fee for fingerprinting services.  Click Here to access the COGENT website.  Once you receive your response, please forward a copy to the School Office. Follow the directions on the COGENT website for fingerprinting locations.  Must be renewed every THREE years.
